About Me
Everyone’s life story is different and each individual enters into treatment at different times in their lives. I strive to meet each patient wherever they currently are in their lives, working to understand the person’s values and remaining respectful of their beliefs, needs and wants.
I provide a safe space to help individuals validate their emotions, understand the impact their emotions have on behavior, and facilitate change through evidence-based treatments. By sharing treatment information, we work together to establish and maintain reasonable goals within their current life context.
During my undergraduate years, I routinely worked at a domestic violence center and witnessed the impact of domestic violence on women, men and children. I made a dedicated effort to understand more about the long-term consequences of interpersonal violence on mental health. I received specific graduate-school specialties in the treatment of trauma, as well as generalist training, allowing me to provide care for adults of various ages seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and relationship difficulties.
I’m a huge believer in self-compassion and how self-criticism can lead to disfunctional behavior. I always encourage my clients to be gentle with themselves as they start the process of change.
