About Me

My mother and my aunts, all of whom were surgical nurses, inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.  They showed me the importance of compassion for the patient and the patient’s family and respect for all members of a patient’s health care team, including other health care providers, nursing staff and non-clinical staff.  Everyone on the health care team plays an active and vital role in the diagnosis, treatment and recovery of the patient.

I believe that a patient-centered approach to the diagnosis, care and treatment of a patient results in the best outcome for the patient.  My patient-centered approach involves listening to the patient, asking questions about the patient’s history, concerns and expectations, and involving the patient’s primary care team in developing a treatment plan that allows the patient to return to their families and resume their day-to-day activities.  Each patient is different and has different needs, goals and expectations.  I make every effort to tailor my treatment plan to that person’s individual needs and which will optimize the outcome and recovery for the patient.

I enjoy getting to know my patients and appreciate hearing about their families, jobs and life experiences.  In my 26 years as a surgeon in the Fox Valley, I have had the honor of providing surgical care to many wonderful people.
