Improved patient outcomes depend on collaboration between provider and patient. What works well for one patient might not work for another, even if they have the same diagnosis. I believe treatment plans must be tailored to individual patient needs.

To create a customized care plan, I strive to educate patients on all options so they can make informed decisions and lead the way. I like to think of myself as my patients’ advocate—I provide them with the necessary education and tools, so improved health can become a reality.

Keeping patients at home and out of the hospital through preventative medicine is also a priority. During my undergraduate years, I had the opportunity to study abroad in an underserved population—a population with minimal access to modern healthcare luxuries. This cultural immersion forced me to think outside the box. It established a foundation of always considering cost-conscious care without sacrificing high-quality evidence-based practice standards.

In all, I love that there is never a dull moment in healthcare. Working as a family nurse practitioner allows me to see a diverse patient population with patients’ ages fluctuating from a few days old to over 100 years.
